We Ran Our Own Answer Check on Atris: What ChatGPT Said, What We Changed, What Moved
In four days, ChatGPT went from describing a different company to describing us. On the big "best tool" questions, it still names us zero times.
Here is what we measured, what we changed, and what moved.
The before
We asked ChatGPT 40 questions a business owner might ask about checking what ChatGPT says about them. Atris was named 0 of 40 times.
Profound was named 11 times. Semrush, Ahrefs and Peec got 10 each.
We asked "What is Atris?" ChatGPT described other companies, mostly atris.com, a Florida firm that has done bank IT since 1996.
We asked about the best memory for coding agents. Atris was named 0 of 10 times, and Mem0 was named 7.
We asked about the best way to start a business with agents. Atris was named 0 of 10 times. HubSpot, Zapier, Make and Notion came up instead.
What we did
We wrote three guides on atris.ai, each one answering a single question in its first line.
We added a plain line to our homepage, our explainer page and our llms.txt file, the file answer engines read first. It says: Atris is atris.ai, not atris.com.
We read every page ChatGPT cited in its answers, to see where those answers really come from.
We submitted Atris to thirteen public lists. Each submission said plainly that our founder wrote it.
We added the missing license file to our public code, and memory keywords to our package listing.
What moved
"What is Atris and does it give agents memory?" has named Atris correctly, 2 of 2 times, on all three days we checked.
"What is Atris and can it help me start a business?" named us the day after we published. The next day it slipped back to the Florida firm. Since then it has named us every time, and it links to our own page.
Three public lists added Atris. One maintainer added us by hand, one asked for one accuracy fix first, and one rewrote our entry before merging it.
What has not moved yet
On the general questions, we are still at zero: 0 of 10 on memory, 0 of 10 on starting a business, and 0 on the answer-check questions.
We found a likely reason. We found no sign our site was ever registered with Bing's or Google's site owner tools, and ChatGPT searches through Bing.
Our new guides did not show up even in searches that named Atris. Writing more pages will not help until that is fixed.
We also found that none of the pages ChatGPT already reads about us linked to our guides. A crawler that landed on them had no path to the answers, so we added the links.
The leaders are slipping. Over four days, Profound fell from 11 mentions to 8, and Mem0 fell from 9 to 2 in two days. Nobody owns those questions for good.
Four lessons for any business
One. Questions that name you can change in hours to a day, from your own site.
Two. "Best tool" questions come from the lists, roundups and docs ChatGPT already trusts. You get into those answers by being listed in those places.
Three. Check that the search engine has your pages before you write more of them.
Four. Fixes can slip back. A one-time audit misses that, and a weekly check catches it.
We will keep checking and publish the next numbers, including the zeros.
